Global Solidarity

Climate justice, human rights and funding for community-led sustainable development. We run campaigns that channel funding, attention, and skills to the people building a fairer, more sustainable world.

Why we exist

We move money, attention, and skills to where they’re needed most.

Mission

We raise awareness about climate change and climate justice, and we develop and scale campaigns that channel funding to community-led initiatives addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Vision

A global movement of engaged people, businesses, and diverse communities striving for climate justice and a sustainable world.

The problem

Time is running out — and we need to act now.

Climate change and the unequal distribution of wealth are driving global inequality. Communities and ecosystems are feeling the impact everywhere.

Our approach

Back the changemakers closest to the problem.

We believe grassroots initiatives, locally-run enterprises, indigenous communities, and visionary individuals are the people best placed to drive real change — on climate, on human rights, on every global issue that matters. That’s why we’ve committed to finding new ways to fund the most effective changemakers, internationally.

We design campaigns, build platforms, and partner with the public and small businesses to move money, attention, and skills to where they’re needed most.

Our projects

Four active campaigns. One belief.

All grounded in the same idea — that bold, locally-led ideas can move the world.

Solidarity

Gaza Food Project

A solidarity campaign supporting Palestinian-led community kitchens and mutual aid during the ongoing siege and bombardment. Run entirely by volunteers, with 100% of donations reaching kitchens on the ground.

Phone Free February

A global campaign for digital resistance. Every February, we challenge people to reclaim their time, attention, and autonomy from the extractive economy built around their smartphones. Disconnect. Resist. Reclaim.

Support the work behind the work

Fund the campaigning, the infrastructure, the solidarity.

Most of our fundraising happens through our individual campaigns. But if you’d like to support the Global Solidarity Foundation itself — the work behind the work — you can do that here.

Who we are

A small team, ambitious campaigns.

The Global Solidarity Foundation was founded in early 2022 by Cyril Romann and Jacob Warn as a vehicle for addressing global inequality in line with the SDGs. Most of the people who make GSF’s projects happen are volunteers, freelancers and partners we work with closely.

Cyril Romann

Co-Founder · From Switzerland

Years in international grant-making and social initiatives across climate and human rights. His background is in social work, with experience inside foundations and national NGOs.

Jacob Warn

Co-Founder · From the UK

Comes from education, campaigning, and impact management. He’s set up educational projects for people on the move and consults on impact, collaborative learning, and grant-making.

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers.

Who does GSF support?

We believe local communities and grassroots organisations are best placed to catalyse sustainable, equitable change. Our campaigns channel funding to local partners around the world.

Is GSF a registered entity?

We’re registered as a Community Interest Company in the UK and as a non-profit in Switzerland. We’re a non-profit in every meaningful sense — every penny of profit is reinvested into our partners and our campaign work.

How does GSF raise funds?

We aren’t a legacy foundation with an endowment. We don’t generate income from investments. Instead, we design new funding channels — working with the public, small businesses, and our own social enterprise (Circular Design) — and disburse grants directly.

Where does GSF work?

Our campaigns are based in the UK, Switzerland, and increasingly across Europe. Our grant-making and solidarity work reaches partners all across the world.

Does GSF accept grant applications?

At present, no. Our campaigns target specific SDGs, and we research and approach partner organisations directly.

Can I get involved?

Yes. Whether that’s volunteering, sharing an idea, or partnering with us, please reach out via the contact form.
